Summary: This book analyses the impact of China on Latin American economies and focuses specifically on the callenges which China poses for the region at the beginning of the 21st century. Latin America has also felt the impact of China´s emergence and is now one of the top three trade partners for many Latin American countries, paralleled by closer diplomatic relations. This study is bases on case studies on Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico and the particular economic relationship with China, including issues such as trade, employment, firm strategies, changes in production patterns, firm strategies and foreign direct investments. These unique contributions are valuable for current knowledge on the socioeconomic effects of China on the region, and respective policy implications.
